Parents and Guardians

Our School Wellbeing Vision is 'To ensure a safe environment with wellbeing at the heart, where everyone feels supported, heard, valued and empowered.'

At Chestnut Lane School, supporting wellbeing is a whole school priority and is embedded in the ethos of our school. We regularly practise wellbeing activities with the children, as well as providing support to parents. We have an open culture of talking about wellbeing and understand that we all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Children who feel happy, confident and safe will approach learning effectively and positively. Therefore, supporting wellbeing from the earliest ages is essential and remains at the heart of what we do.

Through our work toward the Wellbeing Award for Schools and links with external professionals, such as Bucks Mind, we aim to ensure that we are providing the best wellbeing provision for our children, parents and staff. In school we have developed an ever-growing resource bank of wellbeing activities which we use regularly. We are also proud of our large library of books which help to support wellbeing themes and often act as a starting place for conversations.

As parents and carers, there are ways you can support your children’s wellbeing at home and help them to become mindful by noticing their breathing, refocusing their attention and expanding their awareness even when things are hard. As a school, we will support you to help your child/ren build empathy, manage everyday emotions and enjoy mindfulness and wellbeing activities.
