We are proud to be in partnership with two local School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) providers:

Astra School Centred Initial Teacher Training
Chestnut Lane School partners with Astra School Centred Initial Teacher Training to offer school based teacher training. Working closely with Bath Spa University, Astra offers the PGCE and QTS routes into teaching.

Since 2013, over 800 graduates have gone on to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through Astra, which works with more than sixty local primary, secondary and special schools. Astra training blends theory and practice, with both carefully structured school placements and a focus on helping trainees develop an up to date knowledge and understanding of pedagogy in their specialist subject or phase. Astra trainees are supported both by an in school mentor and a team of highly qualified and experienced tutors; training in person at Buckinghamshire schools. Throughout, trainees have the opportunity to work alongside colleagues from a range of school contexts.
